Rivendell Bicycle Works designed this tire to be the toughest tire for touring and fast tandem use. 2.5mm thick tread and Kevlar belt for flat protection. Checkerboard (alternating 8mm squares of slick and angled tread) rolls well but provides ample traction when needed. Folding Kevlar bead. 700x28 (28-622 ISO) although Rivendell says that it usually measures more like it is 27mm wide.
